Maybe make this: Quarry vs. Sand & Gravel Pit

NIMFY – NOT IN MY FRONT YARD! The proposed limestone quarry land is just across the road from where Barley, the dog, is sitting. Look closely and see one of the plots of land along Garrison Road owned by Enon Sand & Gravel, a Jurgensen Company.

How will a limestone quarry, with blasting, change the nature of this quiet, peaceful community? Let me count the ways:
increased truck traffic, blasting, beeping, stone crushing, sirens, rock loading

ES&G estimate they will extract 10,000,000 tons of limestone and 150,000 tons of sand and gravel over the next 80 years.

Mining sand and gravel involves dredging from water-filled pits, while limestone must be dry to be blasted and mined. In a process called dewatering, all ground and surface water must be pumped into a holding pit before draining into tributaries that flow into Mud Run. In 2018, ES&G estimated that 480,000 gallons of water would be pumped out every eight hours.

Flyrock – the fragments of rock thrown and scattered during blasting – is responsible for a large proportion of all blasting-related injuries and fatalities. Flyrock is a potential hazard anytime and anywhere there is blasting
